ScamZero

FAQ

Everything you need to know before you say yes

We answer the questions your leadership and IT team will ask — before the demo, not after.

Getting Started

Setup & onboarding

How long does it take to go live?

Usually 48 hours or less from signing. You send us your logo and brand colors; we build and deploy your branded portal. You review it, approve it, and you're live. Your first alert goes out that week.

What do we need to provide to get started?

Your logo, brand colors, and the name you want on the portal. That's it. We handle the rest — hosting, content, maintenance, everything.

Does IT need to be involved?

No. ScamZero runs entirely on our infrastructure. There's nothing to install, no servers to provision, no database to manage. The only IT ask: if you want a custom subdomain (e.g., safety.yourcity.gov), IT adds one DNS record. That's it.

What does the 30-day pilot actually include?

Full access to the live platform: your branded safety center, the first month of scam alerts written and published, and access to your impact dashboard. No credit card required. At the end of 30 days you decide whether to continue.

The Platform

How it works

How does the scam-checking tool work?

A community member pastes or forwards a suspicious message into your safety center. Our AI analyzes the sender details, language, links, and patterns against current scam intelligence, then delivers an instant risk assessment with plain-language guidance.

What happens to the message someone submits?

Submitted content is analyzed in real time and automatically deleted within 12 hours. We do not store, log, or share what your members submit. Nothing is ever tied to an individual's identity.

Can we see a sample alert before signing up?

Yes. Our weekly alerts are written for general audiences and branded to your organization. Request a sample via the contact page →

How often are alerts published?

Weekly — every Monday you receive a new alert ready to share. We also publish time-sensitive alerts when a major surge is detected, such as tax season fraud, disaster-related scams, or a breaking social engineering campaign.

Can we customize the alerts before sharing?

Yes. You receive alerts as ready-to-use text you can share as-is, or edit and adapt. Some organizations add their own greeting or local context — we encourage it.

Security & Privacy

What your IT team will ask

Where is data stored?

Your portal runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure with servers in the United States. Submitted content is processed in memory and deleted within 12 hours — nothing is persisted to a database.

Are you FERPA compliant?

Yes, for universities. ScamZero does not collect, store, or process student educational records. The scam-checking tool is anonymous by design — no login required, no identity captured.

Are you compliant with NCUA guidance?

ScamZero is designed to support credit unions' obligations under NCUA's cybersecurity and member protection guidance. We do not act as a third-party data processor for member data — submissions are anonymous and auto-deleted.

What is your SOC 2 status?

We are pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification. In the meantime, you can review our full security posture at the Trust Center →

Do you sell or share submitted content?

Never. We do not sell, share, license, or use submitted content for any purpose beyond providing the instant analysis to the person who submitted it.

Managing the Program

What "fully managed" means in practice

How much staff time does this take?

Roughly 30 minutes per week — the time it takes someone on your team to share the weekly alert to your email list, social channels, or text program. ScamZero handles everything else.

What does "fully managed" mean exactly?

We monitor scam trends daily, write and publish weekly alerts, maintain and update the education library, keep the AI detection current, and produce your impact reports. Your team's only job is to share the alerts.

Who do we contact when we need help?

You have a dedicated point of contact at ScamZero. Response time is same business day for most questions.

Can multiple team members access the dashboard?

Yes. There's no limit on team member accounts. Your communications director, community liaison, and executive director can all log in and see program metrics.

Pricing & Commitment

Contract and billing

What happens after the 30-day pilot?

If you continue, we convert you to an annual license. There's no long-term commitment beyond the annual term. You can cancel at renewal.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Annual licenses are non-refundable after the first 30 days (the pilot period). We don't lock you into multi-year contracts by default.

Do you offer statewide or multi-organization pricing?

Yes. If your state league, association, or umbrella organization wants to bring ScamZero to multiple members, we offer league-level pricing. Contact us →
